I have heard both Republicans and Democrats have been invoking my father's name lately, without truly understanding who President Ronald Reagan really was. Mark Reed understands that Pennsylvania Avenue is a two-way street. Mark also understands that the office of president and the Congress are co-equal branches of government and, together, set the course for our great nation. I believe Mark will represent both the 30th District and our country with honor and integrity. I endorse him! I will be voting for him and I encourage all of you to do the same regardless of you personal party preference. Together we can restore America!

Rep. Brad Sherman insists he’s no financial whiz, but you wouldn’t know it looking at his campaign finance reports. The California Democrat has raked in an astounding $652,000 from investing millions of dollars that his political supporters have sent him over the years.
The investments are completely legal, and Sherman has plenty of company in Congress. Dozens of lawmakers — especially those with big bank balances and safe seats — have used campaign cash to dive into the stock market, invest in Treasury bills or take advantage of other money-yielding opportunities.
What’s unusual in Sherman’s case is his sheer success. The $652,000 Sherman has reaped through his investments dwarfs the amount he raised from donors in the opening months of 2012.
Howard Berman Lying about having Mike Antonovich Endorsement
Attention Republicans:
Howard Berman continues to lie about L.A. County Supervisor Mike Antonovich's endorsement. After being confronted with the letter from Mike Antonovich informing everyone Mark Reed is the only candidate that has the Supervisor's endorsement, Howard Berman and his precinct walkers continue to solicit Republican votes by telling them he has the Supervisor's endorsement. In fact, he does not!!
Can we trust a Progressive Democrat Congressman, who lies to get Republican votes, because he cannot get enough support from his own party based on his record in office? Can we trust his entire endorsement list?
The conglomerate -- whose CEO is currently the chair of the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness -- paid a negative -18.9 percent effective tax rate on $19.6 billion in profits.
Top recipients: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, $53,750; Obama, $30,493; Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., $23,900; Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., $21,860; Rep. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., $19,750.
Howard Berman paid his brother Michael
Berman's consulting firm Berman & D'Agostino
$195,000 from campaign funds from 2001 to 2006.[32] This included $70,000 in consulting fees for the
2006 election.[33] In 2005, $50,000 in consulting fees were paid to the company, and Michael Berman himself was
paid a further $80,500 in campaign management and consulting fees.[33] In the 2002 campaign, Berman & D'Agostino was paid $75,000 in political consulting fees.[33]
Center for
Public Integrity reported in 2006 that members of the House Ethics
Committee and their staffs had taken many privately sponsored trips, about 400
trips from 2000 to mid 2005, at a total expense
nearly $1 million. Of these, Democrats took about 80% of the trips at about 70%
of the cost. Berman and his staff were at the top of the chart, with trips
costing more than $245,000. Berman himself had taken 14 trips at the Aspen Institute's
expense, including two to China with
Mrs. Berman. Aspen replied that its events for members were like graduate
seminars, and did not push any policy agenda. "Gene Smith, Berman's chief
of staff, said that the bulk of the congressman's foreign travel can be
attributed to his being a senior member on the House Committee on International
Relations." Five private groups (Campaign Legal Center,
Democracy 21, the League of Women
Voters, Public
Citizen and U.S.
PIRG) jointly sent a letter to the ethics committee urging it ban or
restrict such travel.[36][37]
From the LA Daily News: Mark Reed: It's more than a two-man race
Mark Reed said he is the best choice to represent the 30th District in Congress because, as a San Fernando Valley native, he best understands the area's needs.
Speaking with editorial-board members to ask for the newspaper's endorsement, Reed wasted no time criticizing opponents Howard Berman and Brad Sherman as career politicians under whose tenures the Valley has "gone from a booming economy to a struggling economy."

Rep. Brad Sherman reaches out to his Republican rival
From the Daily News:
Republican Mark Reed, a candidate in the 30th Congressional District race, has a new and unlikely ally in his bid for Congress: Rep. Brad Sherman.
Even though Sherman, a Democrat, is one of Reed's opponents in the closely watched race, Sherman's campaign recently emailed Reed's campaign a video clip showing Rep. Howard Berman making damaging remarks about Reed. Berman is Sherman's chief opponent in the Democratic primary.

Mark's response:
Dakota Smith and the Daily News are not reporting this race accurately.
Republican Rep. Darrell Issa has not endorsed Howard Berman
Howard Berman continues to lie about Republican endorsements.
Every poll released to date has Reed ahead of Berman. This is not a close race.
Sherman cannot stand Republicans, and both Sherman and Berman are playing the blame game accusing all Republicans for the current economy. As always they refuse to take responsibility for their failures.

Silence Is Consent -- The Most Shocking 30 Second Ad of the Year
Israel’s very existence is threatened and the current administration continues to treat it and its Prime Minister not as close allies but as insignificant. Now, Brad Sherman and Howard Berman, my two opponents in the upcoming primary for California’s 30th District Congressional seat, are both quietly distancing themselves from the very same person they helped elect -- only to get themselves re-elected!
I’m not challenging their support for, or emotional connection to, Israel; however, I want you to take a serious look at their silence concerning the Middle East and the State of Israel, our only true friend in the region. I would speak loudly and clearly in opposition to:

Republican Mark Reed is running for Congress in California’s 30th District against Democratic Congressmen Brad Sherman and Howard Berman in a new district resulting from redistricting. Reed is a conservative, Tea Party backer.

Angry Valley Residents, Leaders: ‘Sherman Dropped Ball on Sepulveda VA Project’
RUSS REPORT - The conversions to Buildings 4 and 5 at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration will proceed with construction beginning in January despite huge opposition to the project and contrary to the no-bid leases that say the project is to be completed by December 2011 (48 months from the signing of the lease), rather than beginning construction in January 2012.
On November 8, Congressman Brad Sherman and Los Angeles Councilman Mitch Englander’s staff met with members of the Veterans Administration (VA) for updates on the conversions of buildings 4 and 5 at the Sepulveda VA scheduled to “break ground” in January. Neither Sherman nor Englander has responded to requests for comments regarding this meeting.
An estimated four million residents, Neighborhood Councils, Veteran Service Organizations (VSO) and Civic organizations have expressed their support for having the VA restore the property at the Sepulveda VA back to a full service Hospital to accommodate the medical needs of veterans and returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, and to rescind the Enhanced Use Leases (EUL) signed with New Directions Sepulveda I and II LP (ND) and A Community of Friends (ACOF) in December 2007.Read More
In 2008 the American people voted for change. In his first two years, Barack Obama has increased government spending by 21.4%, increased welfare spending by 54% and 11 million more people are now collecting food stamps. Inflation is on the rise in the form of increased gas and food prices. President Obama has added an additional 4 ½ trillion dollars to our debt and we are running record deficits. The world's respect for the United States is at an all-time low and for the first time since 1947 Israel's existence is truly in danger.
My opponent has blindly supported his party 97% of the time. He has been bought and paid for by Union bosses, and does-not represent the rank and file. My opponent also misrepresented his record and used underhanded and misleading attacks on my character in the last race because he was afraid to stand on his record and debate me one-on-one.
In November of 2010 the American people once again spoke loud and clear; reduce spending and to stop driving our country into an economic black hole. It's time for Democrats and Republicans to do the right thing and let the tax payers know their voices have been heard. A spending freeze at the current out-of-control rates is UNACCEPTABLE. The federal government needs to cut everything it can. This would be a good start for now. The fate of our nation depends on whether we can get our economy back on track. The United States of America is heading towards a complete economic collapse if we don't get entitlement spending under control. China is poised to pass us as the world's largest economy and we will not be able to compete if we don't reduce our debt and balance our budget.
Republicans have promised to cut $100 Billion from the 2011 budget and so far the Democrats and the White House have been unwilling to compromise on spending cuts. Twenty-five percent of the Federal budget goes to pay for the interest on our debt. One hundred billion is just a drop in the bucket.
The Government Accountability Office has identified over $200 Billion in government waste. The report shows thirty-four areas where duplicate programs in the federal government are operated across agencies and bureaucracies and forty-seven other areas where money could be save without cutting any services. This would be an even better start.
I believe America was not built by unions, labor and management, or by Republicans and Democrats. It was built by Americans through the mutual respect we have for what each of us has offered in the building of America and that acknowledgement by our fellow Americans. It is the free market that has given us the opportunity to build a nation second to none and every time we fail to acknowledge this we work to undermine that very system.
I understand the government's desire to help those in need. However, time after time, the people of the United States have always reached deep into their own pockets and helped them as well as those devastated by natural disasters. We do not need the government to remind us of who we are and we do not want our government to cripple us financially and stifle our ability to be the generous people we've always been. No other country has ever matched our concern or private generosity when it comes to the general welfare of the people in this country or around the world. It is because of the average American that we are the greatest nation in history, not because of the size of our government. The government needs to believe in the people of our nation and follow the Constitution that is there to guide them and legally bind them.
Robert Murphy once said:
"Only by fostering private enterprise can the United States truly capitalize on its most basic advantage over communism."
And Winston Churchill said this:
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
The strength of our country does not come solely from the free enterprise system but the mutual respect we have for each other. We have been given the individual responsibility to use our God-given talents to become all that we can be and improve the lives of our fellow man.
I'm asking you to join me in demanding that our elected representatives hear each of our voices in demanding fiscal responsibility, just as we do in our own homes and businesses. I will work to pass legislation for a balance budget amendment, and I will fight to reduce the size of government and the federal debt. I will always work to foster private enterprise over big government so that each and every one of us can remain free to pursue our goals and vision for ourselves and our families.
Please join my campaign by making a donation or volunteering some of your talents and time. Please send me an email or join me at one of my events.
